Puppy Head Start is unlike most puppy classes offered anywhere in the area.

Your pup will get off on the right start with things that we will be teaching that will greatly assist it for the rest of its life. Oh... and just as important you will receive loads of knowledge from proven practices that we have used from almost 30 years raising pups.

Reading books and watching Youtube will only get you so far with dogs. Lots can be learned from those resources but you will also receive LOADS of confusing information that will stop you in your tracks and you will make you not sure what is right and what is wrong.

We will teach you all about proper handling and restraint so your pup will be an adult dog that you, the vet and groomer will enjoy handling.
We will cover crate training, grooming, and preventing or breaking nuisance behaviors!
We will provide controlled environmental exposures in class.
We will imprint simple obedience commands now that will be easier to refine as they mature.
We will teach exposure to other dogs and people through puppy obedience.

Age Requirements: Any breed puppy between 10-16 weeks of age, at the start of class, are welcome to attend. The younger the better... if you have a pup older than this we have other class options.

Other Requirements: Your puppy needs to have been in your home for seven days , and is over ten weeks of age, and has had their first round of puppy shots.

What you need: A hungry pup... skip that dinner meal before coming to class... they will earn their meal in class. You will need a 6' leash and not a retractable leash as well as a properly fitted collar of your choice. Leave the harnesses at home as we will not be using them in class.
We recommend purchasing a treat training pouch for this class.
We also require that you bring puppy sized training treats or a portion of the pups kibble. (We like Zuke's Mini Naturals for training treats... available at box pet stores and on Chewy)

Members of the family are welcome to attend but we ask that you make other arrangements for children under 10.

This course is four private sessions ( 2 per week over a 2 week period ) If your schedule will not allow that we can do one session  a week for four weeks.
